Lady Evelyn Stewart Murray: a bonus Gaelic words post
A list of 13 Scottish Gaelic words curated to accompany today's post on Lady Evelyn Stewart Murray.
Blair Castle & Gardens, Blair Atholl, Pitlochry, UK. The home of Lady Evelyn before she left Scotland.
A chàirdean,/ Friends,
I have curated this wee list of 13 Scottish Gaelic words to accompany today’s post on on Lady Evelyn Stewart Murray!
At the bottom of this post, I will also attach a voice recording with the words pronounced aloud so you can learn them if you feel called to do so.
Please keep in mind, I am a Gaelic learner and by no means an expert. My pronunciation is something I am always working on, especially as an American(!!!), and I am not perfect in this department! But I hope this list and the voice recording will be of help and inspiration to you in some way.
We’ve some nice, meaty Gaelic sounds in there this time. We don’t always have English equivalents for these sounds so it may be new to your muscles. But don’t be deterred, like any exercise the music memory comes in time.
Unlike English, Gaelic is very consistent in pronunciation patterns. Fear not, once you start to recognise and use the patterns (and muscles!), it gets easier. :)
